Student Travel Through Blyth Education

Monks overlooking a courtyard

Be one of the adventurous few to travel to the mountainous and mysterious land of Bhutan.

The Bhutan Canada Foundation is pleased to offer student travel programs in partnership with Blyth Education. Trips are offered over March Break (March 3rd to 17th, 2012) and during the summer (June 30 to July 23, 2012). Students can choose to earn academic credit or gain community service hours.

Past students have described these trips as an “awesome”, “life changing” experience. The adventure begins in the 2000 year-old city of Kathmandu. Here students will tour the small alleys, bamboo buildings and religious sites that make up this ancient place. Next students head to Bhutan to spend time participating in local culture and community based activities. They will also work in schools and assist locals in environmental efforts.

After work, it’s time for play! Students will visit Paro, Punakha, Gangtey, Bumthang, and the capital city of Thimphu. Next they will take a trek to the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery and visit a number of dzongs, in which Buddhist monks are trained. As well, students will learn about the national sport of archery, be fitted in national dress for volunteer work, visit the office of the Bhutan Canada Foundation, do some shopping, and learn about the politics, food and culture in Bhutan!
